Stem cells

Why?

Stem cells are unspecialised cells that can divide and turn into many different kinds of cell.

One stem cell divides and its daughters turn into a red blood cell, a nerve cell and a muscle cell.

Press the button to watch a stem cell become different cells, then see a flatworm regrow.

Drag the picture to look around.

A cut flatworm regrows its whole head because stem cells all over its body become the missing cells.
