Cell division by mitosis

Why?

Mitosis is the division of one cell into two identical cells, used for growth and repair.

The chromosomes in a cell line up in the middle, are pulled apart to opposite ends, and the cell pinches in two.

Press the button to watch one cell divide into two by mitosis.

Drag the picture to look around.

A grazed knee heals as skin cells at the edge of the cut divide again and again until the gap is filled.
