Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells

Why?

Prokaryotic cells such as bacteria have no nucleus; eukaryotic cells such as plant and animal cells keep their DNA inside a nucleus.

A small bacterium with a loop of DNA floating loose sits next to a much bigger animal cell whose DNA is locked inside a round nucleus.

Press the button to compare a bacterium with an animal cell.

Drag the picture to look around.

A bacterium spins its whip-like flagellum like a propeller and zooms past a slow, giant eukaryotic cell.
