Organelles and their jobs

Why?

Organelles are the tiny working parts of a cell, each with its own job, like the rooms of a factory.

A cell is shown as a toy factory: the nucleus is the office, ribosomes are the workers, the Golgi is the packing room and mitochondria are the power plant.

Press the button to follow a protein through the cell factory.

Drag the picture to look around.

A protein is built on a ribosome, carried through the ER, wrapped at the Golgi and shipped out of the cell in a bubble.
