Membrane transport proteins

Why?

Channel and carrier proteins let specific ions and molecules cross the membrane, by facilitated diffusion or pumping with ATP.

Glucose binds a carrier protein that flips shape and drops it inside the cell, like a revolving door.

Press the button to move glucose and ions across the membrane with proteins.

Drag the picture to look around.

The sodium-potassium pump uses one ATP to push three sodium ions out and bring two potassium ions in.
