Cell signalling

Why?

Cells talk using signal molecules that bind receptors and set off a chain of reactions inside the cell.

Adrenaline docks on a liver cell receptor and a relay of glowing messengers passes the signal inward until stored glucose pours out.

Press the button to send an adrenaline signal into a liver cell.

Drag the picture to look around.

One hormone molecule triggers a cascade where each step switches on ten more, so one signal becomes thousands of responses.
